  3. Whitehouse Primary School As we are unable to give details of transition at the moment we hope that the information contained in this powerpoint will help you to learn more about your child starting Whitehouse Primary School. We will regularly update the website to help with transition for your child.

  4. Whitehouse Primary School You will get a pack containing lots of forms to fill in. • Personal Details – health details etc • All About Me booklet • Permission – Photograph • Tapestry permission form

  5. Drop offs & Collections Security: We will be operating a staggered start and finish time in September to ensure social distancing. Specific times will be sent out to you when we know further information. If you cannot pick up your child and need someone else to do it for you you should: Call the office to inform us that another person is picking up your child • Tell us the name of that person • Tell your friend / relative the password for your child • The office will then inform the teacher • The person picking up you child should make themselves known to the teacher at home time and tell the teacher the password. Please add your secret password to your child’s admission form and this will be kept on record. If you wish to change the password after your child has been picked up then you need to inform the office. Failure to give this password will result in your child remaining at school until either, the password is sought by the adult collecting your child, or until school have contacted you to confirm your permission has been given for your child to leave school with the named person.

  6. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is a very important stage as it helps your child get ready for school, as well as preparing them for future successes. Their early years experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs.

  7. How your child will be learning… Children should mostly develop the 3 prime areas first. These are; Communication and language; Physical development; and Personal, social and emotional development. These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.

  8. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas . These are: Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the world; and Expressive arts and design These 7 areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities.

  9. Sharing your child’s learning… All children attending Whitehouse Primary School have a personal on-line Learning Journey which records photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us. We use Tapestry, a system which is hosted in the UK on secure servers. You will have secure access (via email address and password) to your child’s Learning Journey and, in addition to viewing our contributions, we encourage you to add to it by uploading photos and comments, or commenting on observations made by us.

  10. Effective practice in indoor learning…

  11. Effective practice in outdoor learning… Our approach to outdoor learning is one that values experiences rather than equipment, and places children at the centre of the provision.

  12. Outdoors! All year round children will be expected to have suitable waterproof suits and wellies, and a bag containing their spare clothes which is to be brought in and taken home on a daily basis. In colder weather hats, scarfs and gloves will be needed. In warmer weather hats and spare clothes (especially socks and underwear). Suncream MUST be applied before coming to school, and please provide a labelled bottle in their bags.
