The Teacher is the Leader of the Classroom

The teacher always has the first choice in administering discipline:

  • The teacher decides whether to handle the situation in class or not.
  • When the teacher decides to handle the situation in class, the teacher has

complete control over the decision of which consequence to present. (detention, phone call home, conference with student, etc.

  • If the teacher decides to hand off the discipline to the office, then the teacher

relinquishes the right to determine the consequence for the infraction.
