COLORADO DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS IS MARCH 1

– Registration starts at 6:15 pm – The large meetings of precincts at the Supersites

start at 7:00 pm. At these meetings messages from the party are read. The rules for caucus are explained and candidate representatives have 2 minutes to speak.

– Individual precinct caucuses start at 7:30 pm – Caucus work must be done and ALL paperwork

turned in to the Supersite Chair by 8:55 – don’t take any paperwork out of the bldg

– Everyone must be out of the building by 9:00 pm

 Discuss the Candidates (Clinton, O’Malley, Sanders and Uncommitted) ‚ Hold the Threshold Poll

• 1. The Caucus Secretary first announces the minimum number of

votes that are needed for a candidate to “make threshold” – that is, for a candidate to be eligible to receive any delegates at all.

• 2. Then the threshold poll is taken (Secretary records votes on

Caucus Form B: Threshold Poll)

The threshold poll is only used to determine eligibility for the preference poll. Caucus Instructions: - Threshold Poll

Conduct the official Preference Poll

• 1. The Caucus Chair calls for the preference poll and asks for a

show of hands for each eligible candidate.

• 2. The Secretary counts and announces the totals.

3.The Secretary will record the vote totals and complete the GREEN Caucus Form C: County Assembly/Convention Delegate Allocation Sheet REMEMBER: fill out forms as you go so they will all be ready at 8:50

A.

Secretary reminds caucus of number of delegates and alternates allotued.

B.

Caucus Chair asks for show of hands of people wishing to be a delegate or alternate for each preferred candidate. Those supportjng candidate A vote only for candidate A delegates, etc.

C.

If contested and tjme permitng, delegate candidates for specifc candidates can be given an opportunity to speak. Delegates and alternates are elected and the Secretary enters their names and contact informatjon on the (yellow) Caucus Form D: County Assembly/Conventjon Delegate Record.

D.

Secretary obtains signatures from each delegate/alternate and gives them an Ofcial Call.

E.

Caucus Chair and Secretary sign the delegate record.

F.

The newly elected delegates review the down ballot preferences and decide who will support each candidate. Use of Caucus Form E is optjonal. CONGRATULATIONS! YOU’VE CONCLUDED YOUR DELEGATE ELECTIONS!
