Newly Revised Year at a Glance Documents
K-6 Year at a Glance documents were revised this summer for the purpose of sharing with families at Open House and Back-to-School events. Each grade level document provides a high-level understanding of what topics across Mathematics, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies will be taught throughout the year. Grade level documents can be found in eCART and on the quarterly overview page within the Elementary Curriculum Framework (ECF). Each grade level document is linked below for easy access. Kindergarten Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 Grade 4 Grade 5 Grade 6 Translated documents will be published this fall and located in eCART and on the public Internet site. For immediate translations, the grade level information will be accessible on the public FCPS Internet page beginning August 20, 2019 using the language translation feature in the top left corner of the FCPS homepage.
Student Cell Phone Guidelines
In response to a request from the Fairfax County Council of PTA’s (and others) to implement consistent student cell phone restrictions in our schools, we are recommending the following guidelines to all schools. Some schools may have more prescriptive rules, but these recommended best practices are intended to serve as a consistent minimum set of guidelines. Please communicate your school’s guidelines with staff, students and parents at the beginning of the school year. FCPS recommends the following tiered structure of cell phone restrictions, which recognizes the age ability of students to use their cell phones wisely. Elementary school – Phones must be silenced and in backpacks for the duration of the school day. They may be utilized on campus only before and after school. Teachers may allow usage of cell phones for instructional activities where they are the most appropriate tool, such as video creation or QR Code activities.

What we know and believe about our students—individually, culturally, developmentally—informs our expec tations, reactions, and attitudes about those students. 6. Partnering with families—knowing them and valuing their contributions—is as important as knowing the children we teach.
