• Birthdays

○ We love to celebrate birthdays! Please feel free to send in a treat in the morning, so we can plan accordingly that

• day. Prior arrangements do not need to

be made.

• Communication

○ The best way to reach us is by email. ○ Please remind your child to deliver all written notes first thing in the morning. ○ Do not use the For Home Folder or graded work as a means of communication.

Classroom Procedures

• Agenda

○ Students are expected to copy homework. ○ Homework is posted in both classrooms. ○ Responsibility is on the student.

• Absences

○ Students are responsible to make up the work that was missed. ○ One day absent = one day to make it up ○ Your child will receive a “While You Were Out” sheet in his/her mailbox upon return. ○ Contact the main office before 11am for homework requests.

• For Home Folder

○ Contains graded work & district news ○ Will be sent home weekly ○ Sign & return parent signature page ○ Sign & return stamped papers ○ Please do not use this procedure as a form of communication.

Assessment

• District Grading Policy (Grades 4-6)

○ Homework - 10% ○ Class work (formative assessment) - 25% ○ Minor assessments (quizzes) - 25% ○ Major assessments (tests, projects) - 40%

• Genesis Parent Portal

○ Grades now available online ○ Report cards online only

• Google Classroom

○ Window into your child’s paperless classroom. ○ Ask your child to show you what they are working on daily. ○ Please look, but do not touch!

Digital Citizenship

• Chromebooks

○ 1 to 1 technology ○ Your child has made a promise to be a responsible digital citizen. This includes using our devices safely and responsibly.

• Google Classroom

○ A window into your child’s (somewhat) paperless classroom. ○ Ask your child to show you his/her work in progress. ○ Look but please don’t touch! ○ Don’t worry… we haven’t done away with the paper/pencil approach completely!
