What is a Title I school?

  • Title I is a federally funded program designed to

ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic standards and state academic assessments.

  • Schools qualify for Title I funds based on the school's

percentage of students who meet the criteria to receive free or reduced lunch.

Lake Forest Elementary is a Schoolwide Title I School. In a schoolwide school, all students are eligible under Title I, Part A, and therefore benefit from Title I resources.

Flexible Learning Program

  • Focus schools are required to develop and offer a Flexible Learning

Program (FLP).

  • FLP is a supplemental academic intervention program that provides

extra academic support to students in the area of math.

  • Instructional support will be offered during the school day by a highly

qualified math teacher along with a scientific research-based computer assisted instructional component.

Parent’s Right to Know

  • All Title I schools must provide notification to all parents

regarding their right to request teacher and paraprofessional

  • qualifications. This parent right-to-know notification is sent

home at the beginning of the school year.
