WASHINGTON BOULEVARD SLIDE STABILIZATION Project Objective: • Provide a functional roadway for access to the parcels served by the roadway. • Assurance to residents of an all-weather, stable, and predictable access; meeting the needs of emergency responders and reasonable deliveries. • At a cost justifiable for a local access road.
WASHINGTON BOULEVARD SLIDE STABILIZATION DECISIONS MADE TO DATE: 1. Implement full-slope dewatering: Install horizontal drains near the bottom of the slope to lower the groundwater table 2. Remove load restriction 3. Maintain current roadway geometry 4. Confirmation of decision regarding property acquisitions 5. Construction schedule (late summer 2021)
WASHINGTON BOULEVARD SLIDE STABILIZATION Design Updates • 30% Plans developed • Site plan for permitting and preliminary horizontal drain layout completed • Key decisions made/confirmed – property acquisitions, including derelict home at south side of the project • Permitting issues are controlling and the focus of the design team right now. • 60% Plans expected in November* • 90% Plans in Quarter 1 of 2020*
