  • Leave of Absence

– Greta is expecting- estimated due date is June 19. – Expected to be out of office from delivery date to August 1. – Coming back part time 20-30 (hours a week) from August- December – Email will be sent as time draws closer with directions for requests, etc. Mostly, everything will fall on Roxann. – Email will be sent when Greta returns for part-time basis with new direction and days she will be in office.

  • Treatment Specialist Position Update:

– Drafted Policy Option Package to the legislature for authority to hire Position –Program Analyst to provide technical assistance and program and policy development. – Position is budgeted for in current budget and future budgets, so this provides us leverage in moving forward through the OHA process to reach the legislature. No funding requested- always looks good. – Will keep you posted. Legislative session begin January 1, 2017.

State Prevention Updates

  • June and July Prevention Connect Call - Cancelled due to All

Provider Meeting in June and National Conference in July. Next Prevention Connect Call scheduled for August 18th. Login information will be sent out in early August.

  • Annual Reports will be do August 15th and will include the following

information:

  • Brief Narrative describing progress toward outcomes
  • Success and Challenges
  • Budget Summary
  • Please ensure that all Problem Gambling Prevention 2015-2016 data

is entered into OPDS no later than July 29, 2016.

Webinar and National Conference. Will continue on August 3. Agenda and log in instructions will be sent mid-July.

  • GPMS forms have been updated as of February 1, 2016. Please

start using the revised forms immediately. All updated GPMS forms can be found on the Oregonpgs web page at: http://www.oregonpgs.org/treatment-resources/. Family gambler and client gambler surveys and family and client satisfaction surveys almost finalized in Spanish. Hope to have completed and ready for use by end of June.

  • FY2016-17 Procedure Codes and Rates have been updated and

are available on the oregonpgs web page at: http://www.oregonpgs.org/treatment/billing-codes-and-rates/

309-019-0170- Outpatient Problem Gambling Treatment Services

  • (3) Telephone counseling: Providers may provide telephone counseling

when person-to-person contact would involve an unwise delay, as follows:

  • (a) Individual must be currently enrolled in the problem gambling

treatment program;

  • (b) Phone counseling must be provided by a qualified program staff

within their scope of practice;

  • (c) Service Notes for phone counseling must follow the same criteria as

face-to-face counseling and identify the session was conducted by phone and the clinical rationale for the phone session;

  • (d) Telephone counseling must meet HIPAA and 42 CFR standards for

privacy; and

  • (e) There must be an agreement of informed consent for phone

1. State to develop and support a Workforce development advisory committee 2. State to develop and support a Prevention advisory committee for statewide projects and system development. 3. Continue to explore the option of hosting in person regional meetings on a yearly basis. 4. Development of Best Practice Resource Guide for prevention and treatment providers. 5. Coordinate quarterly meetings with Public Health – School of Adolescent Health Center. 6. Older Adult population- focus attention and energy on researching best practices for education, outreach and treatment for this population. 7. Department of Education – focus attention and energy on developing relationship to advocate within the Education system. 8. Create new orientation reference handbook which includes program standards.

9. Create a checklist of things to cover with new prevention and treatment provider, activities new providers should be completing and timeline for when contact and follow-up should be completed.

  • 10. Develop and adopt core competencies for problem gambling

prevention and treatment for Oregon providers.

encouraging student placements within problem gambling programs.

  • 12. Work with OHA/HSD SBIRT Coordinator on ways to integrate

GBIRT within primary care homes and other venues.

  • 13. Continue to expand partnership with local tribes.
  • 14. Refine the prevention site review and technical assistance visits.
  • 15. Development of treatment provider technical assistant visit

protocols and process.

  • 16. Research structure and outcomes from other types of helplines.

  • 20. Coordination with internal Trauma Informed Care (TIC) work group

and with Trauma Informed Oregon (TIO) to ensure problem gambling treatment and prevention needs are addressed.

  • 21. Convene a rural PGS treatment work group to develop strategies to

increase utilization of problem gambling treatment services through new innovative approaches.

  • 22. Reinstate the problem gambling treatment specialist position within

OHA to ensure that clinical expertise and technical assistance is provided to problem gambling treatment providers.
