 Don’t pack your ski jacket  Small sleeping bag/blanket and a pillow.  Plenty of snacks and drinks (preferably water) for the journey.  Take a plastic carrier with you so you can collect your rubbish and pop straight into the bin.  You might also want to pack some mini snacks in your suitcase  If possible take a large soft holdall rather than a hard suitcase as this packs easier into the coach holdall and is also much better for storage in your room.  DVD’s must be suitable viewing

Skiing

 Students have one, 2 hour ski lesson each day starting at 9.30 am with the local ski school (right next to the hotel);  Group sizes tend to be between 10 and 12 per instructor;  We are keen that the groups have instructions in their lessons - not “follow the instructor”;  If students report the latter we very quickly see the head instructor.

Lunch

Following the lessons, we ensure that there is a quick discussion and “thank yous” with the instructors and then it’s in to lunch; This is a self-service meal; There is plenty of choice; The food is excellent.

Afternoon skiing

 The afternoon is spent skiing with Academy staff who have the Alpine Ski Leaders Award;  Students are able to practise what they have learnt in the morning;  Usually from about 1 pm to 4.30/5.00 pm!  (If the lifts are open ……….)  Students are NOT allowed to ski without a member of staff or instructor.

slide-26
SLIDE 26

For beginners: going up……

Three main ways of getting up the mountain: Drags, chairs and cable car; Students HAVE to have been on a type of lift with the instructor before they can go on with staff leaders.
