Mosquitoes transmit all 3 of these diseases
If we reduce mosquito populations we reduce the risk of disease spreading in our community
Why are we here?
ZIKA, DENGUE & CHIKUNGUNYA
- Zika is all around us and is inevitably coming to the BVI
- Repellents and nets do not solve the problem
- Mosquito control is only effective as whole Community
effort - Everyone must do their part
Why are we here?
The best way reduce mosquito populations is to eliminate their breeding sites
How can YOU help?
Eliminating Mosquito breeding sites Can reduce mosquito populations by 50-60%
- Standing water is the mosquito’s breeding site
- As little as a tablespoon of water can hold hundreds of eggs
- The eggs can survive without water for over a year and then hatch when in contact with water
This is how you can help…
Find and eliminate Mosquito breeding sites in your yard and around your home..
How can we help at home?
What to look for...
1. Water Drains / Barrels 2. Old Tyres 3. Uncovered tanks / cisterns 4. Discarded buckets / containers 5. Vases 6. Flower pots and saucers 7. Bottles 8. Discarded tins / paint cans 9. Discarded toys 10. Roof guttering 11. Bottles / brick holes 12. Pet Containers 13. Unmaintained pools 14. Garden containers and tools
Find and eliminate Mosquito breeding sites in your House
How can we help at home?
