Trust Port Overview

Trust Port’s are independent statutory bodies set up by an Act of Parliament and governed by local legislation (statutes). They are administered by a self-governing independent statutory board.

There are over 100 TP’s in the UK with 14 having a turnover in excess of £5M of which Peterhead is one.

No individual or group ‘owns’ the port. Stakeholders as opposed to shareholders.

All profits reinvested back into the development of the Trust.

Manage, maintain and develop the port. Pass on ‘heirloom’ to next generation.

Levy dues, create bye laws, ensure safe navigation, enforce safe working practices, monitor & protect environment and provide for good governance.

10 Board members plus CE who is ex-officio. 2 X 3 yr term (+ if exceptional circ). Skills incl. legal, nautical, management etc.
