High School Credits Course S1 S2 Credit Schedule : English 1 78 80 1.0 - High school students have 7 Biology 53 75 0.5 classes a day Algebra I 75 80 1.0 - 7:20 am - 2:30 pm World Geography 70 85 1.0 Credits : Choir 89 90 1.0 • Each semester course passed with a grade Spanish I 75 75 1.0 of 70 or higher equals 0.5 credit. Nutrition & 85 0.5 • In one semester, a student may earn up to Wellness 3.5 credits (7 semester classes). Dollars & Sense 90 0.5 • Year-long courses may average for credit at the end of the second semester. • Poor attendance will negatively affect credit 6.5 Total Credit earning potential. Must be present 90%. STUDENTS MUST EARN 6 CREDITS TO BE PROMOTED TO 10 TH GRADE

Complete all course requirements for the Foundation High School Program (FHSP): • Foundation High School Program + Endorsement (26 credits) • Foundation High School Program ( 22 credits ) *Parent approval required. Considered after student completes his/her sophomore year. 2. Pass all State Assessments (STAAR exams): • • English I Biology • • English II US History • Algebra I

Foundation High School Program + Endorsement (26 Credits) • 4 credits English : English I, English II, English III, & 1 additional approved English credit • 4 credits Math : Algebra I, Geometry, & 2 additional approved Math credits • 4 credits Science: Biology, IPC/Chemistry/Physics, & 2 additional approved Science credits • 3 credits Social Studies: World Geography OR World History, US History, Economics, & Government • 2 credits of the same World Language • 1 credit Fine Art • 1 credit P.E. • 7 credits Electives ( Includes Endorsement Requirements)

Foundation High School Program + Endorsement Distinguished Level of Achievement (DLA) (26 Credits) • Complete all graduation requirements for the FHSP + Endorsement, including Algebra II as a math credit. • STAAR EOC – Approaches Grade Level or above is required in each subject area exam: • English I • English II • Algebra I • Biology • US History • DLA is a requirement for automatic admissions to a 4-year Texas public college/university for students in the Top 10% (varies for UT Austin).

What is an Endorsement? • Endorsements are broad career Endorsement readiness focus areas that areas: comprise hundreds of potential career pathways for students. 1.STEM Endorsements encourage students to concentrate on 2.Business & Industry career options and think about their education as a pathway 3.Public Services toward individual goals. 4.Arts & Humanities • Students may complete more than one endorsement if desired, 5.Multidisciplinary Studies and they may change endorsements at any time prior to graduation.

  13. Arts & Humanities Areas of interest include: World Languages, Band, Theatre, Choir, Dance, Orchestra, Art, English, Social Studies Social Fine Arts Fine Arts ELA WLC x 4 WLC 2x2 Studies x 4 2x2 or 3x1 Electives

  15. Performance Acknowledgements Outstanding Performance(s) in: – Dual Credit – Bilingualism and Biliteracy – Advanced Placement Exams – PSAT, ACT-Aspire, SAT or ACT – Business or Industry Certificate or License Performance Acknowledgements are noted on the final high school transcript .

Course Registration Card Select one Endorsement ▪ choice Circle one course from each ▪ of the 4 ‘core’ subjects: English, Math, Science, Social Studies Select level of coursework ▪ carefully List elective courses in order ▪ of preference with first course being first choice List alternate courses in ▪ order of preference

  19. Course Selection Worksheet REMINDER: CCHS students may only select from the courses on the worksheet. Not all courses in the EPG are offered at CCHS.

  20. Skyward Student Access • STEP 1 - Enter your course requests into Skyward • From the CCISD website, click on “@School.” • Use your student Login ID and Password to access your Single Sign On Portal Login = ID#@ccisd.net Password = Lunch Pin #

  21. • STEP 2 – Click on the Skyward Student icon.

  22. • STEP 3 – Using the course numbers, enter 7 total CREDITS • Click on “Schedule.” • Click on “Request Courses for 2020 - 2021.”

  23. Skyward Student Access 1. Search for your course by entering the course # in the search box. 2. Click on the correct course to highlight it. Click “Add Course.” 3. Continue the process until you have reached 7 CREDITS.

  24. Skyward Student Access • STEP 4 - Enter your alternate courses • Click on “Request Alternates” • Enter 3 - 4 alternate courses using the search feature and “Add Course” button • Use arrows to rank your choices

  25. Important Course Registration Reminders • Choose courses carefully. Schedule changes at the high school level are for data entry mistakes or course errors only. • Course Registration Verification Letters will be delivered to students in April. Changes to requests will be accepted until May 1 st , 2020. • Schedules will be created to match requests as much as possible. • Skyward closes for course entry at 11:59 pm on Thursday, February 20 th • Course selection cards are due back to your intermediate campus by Friday, February 21 st .

GPA and Class Rank • High School GPA (Grade Point Average) begins with coursework in the 9 th grade year. • CCISD’s GPA scale is a weighted 5.0 scale with additional points for more rigorous classes. (Level 1 – Advanced Academic, PreAP/GT, and Advanced Placement (AP) Courses) • GPA and Rank will be calculated at the end of grade 9: following the second semester grading period (June) of the academic year. Same in 10 th . • GPA is used to determine class rank.

College Admissions • College admission requirements may be greater than FHSP graduation requirements and will vary from college to college. • Review college admission requirements early and often to ensure high school coursework meets expected standard of a college/university. • College admission officers will review a student’s transcript for rigor and course selection during all four years of high school. • GPA/Class Rank may be an admission criteria at a college/university.

  30. Superintendent’s Scholars Eligibility Requirements: • Earn grade of at least 95 in Level 2 courses • Earn grade of at least 85 in Level 1 courses • No discipline record • Earn certificate and award • Can qualify all four years of high school

Benefits of Spanish for Spanish speakers • Advanced Academics (Level 1 on GPA scale) • Can earn 2.0 credits for one class Spanish I is covered during 1 st semester Spanish II is covered during 2 nd semester • Open to anyone who demonstrates proficiency at the Novice High Level on an AAPPL assessment ( listening and speaking ). • See current 8 th grade Counselor/Assistant Principal for more information about AAPPL placement assessment.
