Financial Assistance: TA & GSR • Teaching positions: – Graduate Student Instructor (GSI), Tutor, or Reader • Research positions: – Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) • Positions of 25% time or more (10+ hours) carry some fee remission and also pay an hourly wage – See http://grad.berkeley.edu/financial/graduate-student-employment/guide/ • Positions available in the I School and other departments • I School application opens mid-March

Establishing Residency • Determined by the Office of the Registrar • If eligible, will save you over $12K per year • During the admissions process, submit on CalCentral: – Statement of Legal Residence due June 1 – Documents due August 1 • Students eligible to petition for residency every semester • If planning to establish residency for your second year, make sure to: – be resident in California by August 22 – be continuously present in California for at least 366 days (absences not exceeding 6 weeks) • Many but not all international students not eligible for CA residency • More information at orres@berkeley.edu or Registrar’s website
