  7. Qualifications & Our 2019 Curriculum All A level courses are linear and therefore the vast majority of exams are taken at the end of Year 13. En Entr try y Requ equir irements ements Five GCSE qualifications at Grades 9-4 or equivalent This must include Mathematics AND either English Language or English Literature at a Grade 4 or above Individual subjects then have their own additional entry requirements IN ADDITION: • An offer to join us will be subject to interview • Students are expected to have an attendance of 95% or higher in Year 11 • Students must have demonstrated the correct work ethic and appropriate behaviour in Year 11 - we would not expect students to have accumulated more than 15 negative points

En Enrichment richment Op Oppo portunities tunities • All students will take part in a compulsory one hour of enrichment per week • 22 different options available to choose from • These range from qualifications like the Extended Project Qualification & Core Maths to community work experience in local primary schools, care homes & nurseries and in-house options such as faculty prefecting and PE

Pas astoral oral Su Suppor pport t & Gu & Guida idance nce • All students will be allocated a Tutor and they will be expected to attend registration EVERY day from 8.45-9.05am • During this time, a detailed tutor programme of activities will be delivered to ensure that students cover a huge breadth of content ranging from life skills to careers to PSHE to study skills • Regular House activities & assemblies • Large Sixth Form team of staff (two teaching & three non teaching) • Bursaries available • SEND support • Huge support with university, apprenticeships & employment applications

Wha What t El Else? se? • Study periods – Compulsory silent supervised study occurs weekly and students will be guided how to use the remaining study periods effectively • EXTRA-CURRICULAR activities – Huge range of clubs and societies that students can get involved in • Three day ‘Skills for Success’ conference with local businesses • Trips and expeditions • Local employer links and sponsorship • Quiz nights • Year 13 pantomime • Statutes fair • Charity work • Leavers ball

Ex Expectations pectations 20 2019 19 We expect students to … • Be a role model for younger students • Wear appropriate uniform and follow the Sixth Form dress code • Maintain our high standards • Participate in all registration activities and House activities • Contribute to wider school events • Not work in school hours • Not take on more than 10hrs a week of paid employment • Have a minimum of a 95% attendance

  16. Wha What t Ha Happ ppen ens s Nex ext? Talk to Faculties Thoroughly read the options booklet When you have made your decision APPLY via the Sixth Form section of the school website www.ashbyschool.org.uk Closing date for applications is FRIDAY 31 st JANUARY 2020

Students will then be interviewed (February > March) and at that time advice re suitability of subject selections will be discussed – Most students will be offered a place pending results in this interview – Some students may be deferred and asked to come back for a second interview at a later date COMPULSORY INDUCTION DAY ON Monday June 29 th 2020 RESULTS DAY (Thursday 20 th August 2020) – Students must confirm acceptance of their place on this day
