So the hard facts

  • In 2017/2018 the Council disposed of 267,366

tonnes of municipal waste.

  • That’s 975kg per household.
  • It costs about £205 per household to provide

waste and recycling collection and disposal, this includes street and beach cleansing, HWRC’s,

  • perating the CERC and providing bring bank

Until very recently waste that wasn’t recycled or composted went to landfill. 120 lorries a day Connon Bridge landfill closed in 2018 now all waste goes to the EfW plant

  • We currently recycle and compost 34.9% of our household

waste.

  • Kerbside recycling average for Cornwall: 25%

In the areas that the CNP cover ranges from 26.76% to 32.15%.

  • Due to our kerbside separation systems we recycle 99.5% of

the material we collect.

  • The 13 (+1) Household Waste and Recycling Centres recycle

around 60% of the waste they receive.

  • All of the material we collect for recycling is reprocessed in

the UK or Europe.
