What is the Coronavirus/Covid-19?

  • This is a new virus which has affected many countries around the world

including the UK

  • Drastic actions have been taken in some countries like China and Italy to

prevent the spread of the virus - for example closing all public buildings and quarantining areas

  • As cases start to increase in the UK, the government might decide that they

will have to close public areas to try to contain and reduce the spread of the virus

  • This will only be done if absolutely necessary, as it will have an huge impact
  • n the country (Some people will not be able to work, you will not be able to

attend school and critical services like hospitals will be affected for non urgent cases)

What do you need to know?

  • Coronavirus is spread by person to person - therefore we must ALL minimise

the risk of it spreading

  • For most people, if they catch Coronavirus it has mild symptoms
  • HOWEVER - for some people it is very dangerous. The elderly and people

with underlying health conditions are at risk

  • Young people are least likely to be affected - BUT you are very likely to help

spread it THEREFORE - we all have a responsibility to

  • Stay safe by regular hand washing
  • Be kind and supportive to others
  • Look after each other

medicines

  • Be helpful - a lot of people are very anxious and worried. They might be

stressed about loved ones, work, money etc…

If the school has to close….

In the unlikely event that we have to close the school.

  • You will be learning at home via google suite (g suite)
  • Work will be set for you every day
  • You will be able to communicate with your teachers
  • We will be monitoring your work, and giving you feedback

Therefore, please make sure that you:

  • have your passwords for g suite and can access this outside school
  • tell us if you cannot access g suite or do not have ICT access outside school

(please tell your form tutor) If you are worried about any aspect of possible school closure - please speak to your form tutor or Pastoral Support Officer.
