Recycle of Recordable DVD infrastructure

 Huge infrastructure of the recordable DVD disc manufacturing, with over 5 Billion discs/year capacity, can easily be converted to BD-R LTH manufacturing lines, preparing to future demand growth with lower cost products.  The Infrastructure/resource itself can be recycled for economy and environment-conscious viewpoint!  Finally, It is thought to be the benefits of the whole optical disc and BD industry as well as the end users through low cost production, flexible supply capability, and saving environment.

A Concern to dye-based dual layer

*L1 recording status dependency on L0 recording characteristics? *How is the impact of the transparency change due to L1 recording? These concerns are raised from the experience in DVD recordable Dual-Layer, where only dye-recording layer technology is adopted. Sometime more than 10% recording power shift was observed.

Transparency through L1 is changed after L1 recording. LD beam
