MS/PSS Quality Improvement Presentation: PSS Assessment

▪ Need to develop assessment/reassessment process

  • Assessments at least every 6 months
  • Use individual data in assessment to develop personal

goals for each individual and track progress

  • Use aggregate data from the assessment to develop

programming to address common client needs

▪ Baseline

  • No assessments administered
  • Developed programming based on anonymous survey

▪ Baseline assessment completed (n=35) ▪ 6 month assessment completed (n=6)

  • 8 are due for reassessment

▪ Implemented tracking system for clients attendance

  • Identifies clients who have not been to > 3 sessions
  • Send follow up emails and make phone calls

▪ For new clients, try to meet one-on-one in advance to gauge commitment and review expectations

▪ Successes

  • Greater client engagement in the group and direction of

programming (e.g. World AIDS Day poster)

  • Added brief mental interventions to address immediate concerns

▪ Challenges:

  • Clients that only attend 1-2 sessions
  • Open group so people may not attend at the time reassessment

is due

  • Were no longer able to provide child care → drop in participation

▪ Next

  • Get attendance numbers back up (child care, try moving time)
  • Providing more empowerment opportunities (advocacy days)
  • Bring in more guest speakers/experts on topics (e.g. disclosure,

nutrition)
