College Prep Vs. Advanced College Prep What is the difference?

• Pace (how fast the class moves)
• Depth of the material

College Prep and Advanced College Prep courses are called CP and ACP

What is similar in College Prep and Advanced College Prep Courses?

• Most of the content you learn
• Teachers often teach both College Prep and

Advanced College Prep classes

• We decide based on your work habits,

your grades, and your academic skills.

• If you have a question about your placement, check-

in with your teacher.

How do your teachers decide which class is right for you?

Your teachers want you to be challenged next year, but not overwhelmed by your classes.

Choosing Courses

account name/number, password, and instructions for the Skyward Family Access portal *If you don’t have a computer or internet access, see Ms. Fiske

• Online registration will be open from March 10th

through March 20th

Choosing Courses

Courses are either…

FULL YEAR or 1 SEMESTER 1 semester courses are either FALL (F) or SPRING (S) There are 28 periods in a week at North…

• Ignore credits right now and pay attention to periods.

You need at least 24 periods in a week. You can’t have more than 28 periods in a week.

• When you choose electives, you also need to choose

an ALTERNATE, in case your first choice is full or doesn’t fit your schedule.

• See page 8 in your Course Catalog for a list of

Freshman Courses and a yellow handout with all the Freshman elective choices

• Remember, you have four years at NNHS to explore

electives! Enjoy the process J

Electives

On March 10th you will get a REGISTRATION WORKSHEET to practice filling

• ut what classes you want to sign up for online.

Some sections will be filled in for you already (both on your worksheet and online). Course numbers will be entered by your teachers for:

• English
• History
• Math
• PE / Sexuality and Health
• Physics
• World Language (not everyone will take a World Language)
• Directed Study (2 periods per week of a study hall in both the fall and spring

semesters)

Your teachers have a lot of experience helping many 8th grade students choose courses for high school. We will discuss our recommendations with you and help you with all of the decisions you will make in the next few weeks. If you have questions about this process, please ask us!
