Establishment of TOHFAN TOHFAN is a private sector driven tractor hiring service provider It was established in 2003 with 9 tractors and 36 members to provide tractor hiring service to farmers on a commercial basis. Currently TOHFAN operates in 18 States across the country with 187 tractors and 509 members TOHFAN is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission Abuja. Partners of TOHFAN include PropCom Makarfi, FCMB, Sterling Bank, COTRAC, Mahindra(Springfield), John Deere(TATA), New Holland (SCOA), Tak Tractors, NIRSAL, Babangona and NAIC, Fin Insurance e.t.c.
Vision and Mission of TOHFAN Vision Statement The vision of TOHFAN is to be the preferred provider of sustainable tractor hiring services among farmers in every State in Nigeria and FCT. Objectives of TOHFAN T o improve farmers’ access to tractor hiring services T o ensure farmers’ satisfaction with tractor hiring services provided by members of the association T o improve members’ access to credit facilities from banks and other financial institutions for the procurement of tractors T o enhance direct procurement of tractors and genuine spare parts from vendors and manufacturers within and outside the country
Objectives of TOHFAN (contd) T o increase the membership strength of the association across the country T o facilitate access to training and after- sales services for spare parts by members T o raise awareness of activities of the association among stakeholders in the country
TOHFAN’s membership Members of the association include tractor owners, tractor operators, booking agents, hiring agents and tractor mechanics. TOHFAN has adopted a value chain approach to tractor hiring services by ensuring that key players along the chain are represented in the association and they work together to make sure farmers are satisfied with the services rendered.

Achievements of TOHFAN (April 2015 – March 2016) TOHFAN provided 206,823 work hours of tractor hiring services with 187tractors across the country TOHFAN ploughed 67,195 hectares of land for farmers in the country between April 2015-March 2016 TOHFAN harrowed 91,390 hectares of land for farmers in the country within the same period
Achievements of TOHFAN (April 2015 – March 2016) TOHFAN provided tractor hiring services to 78,798 farmers from April 2015 -March 2016 A net revenue of N205 million was generated for tractor owners
Plan for 2016 TOHFAN is making arrangement to increase the number of tractors for hiring services from 187 to 287 by March 2016 Expected hectares of land to be ploughed is 92,988 120,462 hectares of land will be harrowed for farmers 106,728 farmers are expected to have access to tractors hiring services provided by TOHFAN 273 million Naira will be generated as net revenue
