James Mitchell currently serves as pastor at Horizon Community Church and serves as an engineer at a small motor manufacturer in the Santa Clarita Valley. As a bi-vocational minister, James teaches and leads from a perspective that much of our communities approach the idea of God's calling on their life. James' has studied engineering and religious studies at the University of California at Berkeley and then came down to Southern California to do his seminary studies while working as an engineer at Fuller Theological Seminary. James is married to his wonderful and kind-hearted wife, Jennifer, and together they have a beautifully blended family with four children. James is also a lover of the

  • utdoors, and although he may not look the part, he, along

with his wife, love to compete in ultramarathons throughout the western United States. God invites us into Kingdom building, and this building requires a balance of talents; James seeks to demonstrate and teach this balance and diversity through his life and ministry.

Pre-2020

  • First Presbyterian Church,

Palmdale was chartered on May 4, 1919.

  • Became Horizon Church in

early 2000.

  • 1914 Home Bible study
  • 1916 built church on 9th and Palmdale
  • 1956 1st Building on present site.
  • 2020: Decision to follow God’s lead

into the new thing for their congregation.
