 The National Academies of S

ciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS EM) are committed to the principles of diversity, integrity, civility, and respect in all of our activities. We look to you to be a partner in this commitment by helping us to maintain a professional and cordial environment. All forms of discrimination, harassment, and bullying are prohibited in any NAS EM activity. Emergency Procedures

In an emergency, dial 202-824-9667 (or 59667 on a house phone) to reach the Marriott Marquis’ security department. Do not call 911, as the hotel can respond more quickly and can better direct first responders to where they're needed. We recommend you add this number to your contact list

now, so you won't need to look for it later.

Have an exit plan. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the route to the nearest exit from this room.

If an alarm sounds, please end your event immediately and evacuate the building. The escalators located in the center of each floor can be used to access the main lobby and exits. Additional stairs are located behind the elevators at each end of the main hallway on each level.

In case of evacuation, attendees should gather on the lawn

  • f the Carnegie Library, across the street from the main

entrance to the Convention Center. (If blocked by

construction fence, walk left to access the lawn on the 7th S treet side of the library.)

TRB Centennial Celebration

Celebration begins at the 99th Annual Meeting (2020), focusing on TRB history and conclude at the 100th Annual Meeting (2021), focusing on the future.

Current S tatus:

TRB History Book –The manuscript has been completed and the book is in the review process. Distribution of the hard copy version of the book will begin at the 2020 Annual Meeting.

Centennial Website –TRB has a centennial webpage available right now so that people can get informat ion on the celebration; however, this coming summer will be launching a new Centennial Website which will include the Centennial Papers prepared by committees.

Videos – We expect two types of videos. The first will be a five-minute video on TRB that is scheduled to be completed by January 2020. The second set of videos are short video vignettes that we hope volunteers will take with their cell phones and submit in response to short and fun questions related to them and TRB. S

  • licitations for

responses to the questions will begin this summer.

2020 & 2021 Booths – We will be celebrating TRB’s history with a booth at the 2020 Annual Meeting and TRB’s future with a booth at the 2021 meeting.

Roaming Exhibit –This summer, we will begin taking orders from

  • rganizers of meetings outside of DC that would like to include a

tabletop and small display on TRB’s Centennial at their meeting.

Centennial papers due from committees by Feb 1

TRB Centennial Celebration

All TRB attendees should have received a brochure on TRB’s upcoming Centennial Celebration upon receiving the Annual Meeting program. In addition to the brochure, information on the celebration is available at www.TRB.org/ Centennial.

I have been asked to encourage each of you to consider the various ways that you can participate in the upcoming celebration.

TRB is soliciting contributions to support development of the various components of the celebration. Individuals can contribute via the Century Club and organizations can contribute via the Century Patron program. Those that have already contributed as of November 30, 2018, are highlighted in the brochure.

Contributors, both individuals and organizations, will be recognized in the history book that is being produced for the centennial as well as in other locations that will highlight and thank contributors.
