2011 - 2012 Budget Positive Factors
Capital facility upgrades:
- Upgrades to HS auditorium lighting and sound
systems, athletic facilities, and TOIS athletic fields
- Portions of the roofs at Wayside and Wanamassa
- High School cafeteria & stairwell windows, repairs
to the track
- Various HVAC replacements, paving and curbing
district wide
- Replacement of damaged playground equipment
- Reinstate education technology initiatives:
- Teacher laptop initiative in grades 9-12
- Various document cameras, responders, data
projectors and Smart Boards
- Replace servers & switches that are over 9
years old
- Install wireless access at the High
School in connection with the teacher laptop initiative
Personnel
- Add 3 part time and 1 full time special education
resource center teachers (OTES, Wayside, HS & TOIS)
- Add 1 full time special education LLD
teacher at Wayside school
- Add 1 TOIS basic skills teacher
- Add 1 OTES and 1 fifth grade teacher
- Reduce 3 elementary teachers
at Wayside and Wanamassa due to enrollment shifts
- The Ocean Township General Fund school
tax increase is estimated to be 3%.
- The average assessed home of $404,000 will see an
increase of $146.40 annually or $12.20 on a monthly basis.
- The Loch Arbour General Fund school tax
increase is estimated to be 15%.
- The average assessed home of $1,094,000 will see an
increase of $1,785.56 annually.

- School budget goes to both municipalities for review
- If both Ocean Township and Loch Arbour agree to
mandate a decrease in the budget, cuts will be made by the school board up to the amount specified
- If both municipalities can not agree to an amount to
cut, the entire budget goes to the state for their review. The state then makes the determination for cuts
