STATE AID 2015-2016:

  • NO Increase in state aid over the current year

AGAIN for 2015 – 2016 school budget

  • Receive $2,027,587 less in state aid than we

received in 2009-2010 ($9,848,816 vs $7,821,229)

  • As a percentage of the school budget, state aid

continues to decline from 20% to 10% in 13 years

  • Ocean Township receives less in state aid now

than the district received over 20 years ago

2012–2013 LESS than the state imposed 2% cap 1.81% 2013–2014 LESS than the state imposed 2% cap 1.35% 2014–2015 LESS than the state imposed 2% cap 1.99%

BANKED CAP: The amounts that were below the 2% cap and the amounts the district qualified for Health Benefits waivers in the 3 proceeding years totaled

$1,992,573 . This is the amount that was available to increase the 2015-16

budget over the 2% tax levy cap.

POSITIVE FACTORS:

  • Full implementation of employee health benefits premium
  • contributions. Range from 3% to 35% of premiums depending on

salary and plan coverage of the individual employee.

  • Over $2,100,000 total employee contributions 2015-2016 budget
  • Stability and/or no increases in the utility budget for 2015 – 2016 due

to energy savings projects and cooperatively bid rates

  • 250 KW solar panel system has been completed on the Intermediate

School roof and 135 KW solar panel system currently being completed at the High School

  • One to one technology initiative for the 3rd, 7th, 8th

and 12th grades
