Stat. §60.10 and § 82.03 can be taken  All other motions are advisory only Town Chairperson chairs meeting  Town officers have no official role and are allowed to vote Only qualified electors may vote  18 years old and a resident  Majority rules

Town Meeting Powers (Sec. 60.10) Direct Powers  Examples: setting the levy, compensation of the Board, combining offices, etc. Directives or Grants of Authority  Examples: increase the size of the Board, purchase land, construct buildings, etc. Authorization to Board to Appropriate Money (for next budget)  Examples: rural numbering systems, control of weeds/pests, civic functions, etc.

Town Meeting Powers Statutes are specific on what actions are allowed • at the Town Meeting Many powers only authorize the Board to do • something, Board can decide not to implement If authority is granted, Board can’t exceed what • was approved Only the Town Board can amend the budget. • Electors set the levy and Board pay at a Special Town Meeting in November
