Hardware Injection test (HWI test)

3

  • One of the important end-to-end test
  • To displace end mirror (by actuator or photon radiation pressure), we quasi-

inject the gravitational wave

  • detector response, digital control, data acquisition system, signal calibration,

data transfer, data analysis Laser Photo Detector BS Xend mass Yend mass

  • Displacing mirror by actuator through digital control

system (injected signal to feedback loop)

  • We prepared and injected waveforms with our hands

and eyes in many processes->Automation

  • Injected waveforms : Sine-Gaussian, Supernova

numerical simulations, NSNS, BHBH->Investigation

Importance of HWI test

4

(1) An additional check of the h(t) calibration (2) Test of search and parameter estimation analysis (3) A method to check for cross-couplings to the detector output channels (4) (Blind injection) We need to start preparation toward the future bKAGRA HWI test

  • To be automation HWI test
  • Effective h(t) calibration check waveform
  • Plan with considering actuator and cryo-payload model
  • Investigating physical waveform injection
  • Investigating HWI test with photon calibrator
  • Phys. Rev. D 95, 062002 (2017)

So, we will plan to investigate / inject following waveforms; (1) Check the accuracy/confirmation of h(t) reconstruction

  • Sign, amplitude, phase, time delay, lack of filters, …
  • Measurement of open loop transfer function (and its time variation)
  • Continuous sine, Swept sine, Sine Gaussian, Pulse signal, …

(2) Waveforms which can describe analytically

  • Systematic uncertainty study of search and parameter estimation program
  • Effective One body, IMRFenom, TaylorT4, …
  • Inspiral signal (Post Newtonian Approximation)

(3) Complex waveforms

  • Numerical simulation of NS-NS merger, supernovae, cosmic strings, …
  • Waveforms with modified gravity

Effective h(t) calibration check

6

We should know what frequency will be important for precise calibration

  • Dominant frequency to be reconstructed (v_err or v_fb?)
  • Unity gain frequency
  • Performance of lower frequency (proportional to f^-2?)

After fixed (or 1st proposed) the actuation model and cryo-payload model, we start investigation what amplitude, frequency, Q value Sine-Gaussians are important.

Effective h(t) calibration check

There are many important physics in higher frequency (>1kHz)

  • Hyper massive neutron star oscillation (depend on EoS)
  • g-mode oscillation of supernova proto-neutron star
  • etc…

long duration continuous sine(>1min) injection will be necessary. (in LIGO O2 case, ~3min injection was performed in 1000.1-5000.1Hz)
