Heart Disease and Stroke—rates of AI/AN deaths higher than any other race. Cancer—lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths for AI/AN men and 2nd leading cause for women Asthma—18% of AI/AN adults have asthma. Youth who report exposure to 2nd hand smoke are more likely to report having asthma Diabetes—12% of AI/AN adults have diabetes; 30% of those smoke Low Birth Weight—AI/AN babies born prematurely with a low birth weight, 60% higher than all babies born in WA state. 8% of AI women who smoked had LBW babies. Infant Mortality– 11.1 per 1,000 AI/ANs infants die in the first year as compared to 5.2 per 1,000 of the total population. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is 3 times higher than the population as a whole
