Country participation in COST Actions

 COST Action 1405 has had a monumental presence in Bulgaria -

not in numbers but in impact. It has connected Bulgarian midwives with British expert midwives who were able to observe maternity services and to evaluate the lack of autonomous midwifery.

 COST Action 1405 organized the first evidence-based conference

in Bulgaria on the science behind physiological birth with eminent lecturers from across the EU, members of COST.

 The transnational project for research on normality has enabled

local voices to speak louder on the necessity of implementing evidence-based guidelines in childbirth and helped articulate arguments that were never given a platform to speak from

projects.

 Opening opportunities to collaborate with a variety of disciplines within Switzerland as

well as between Switzerland and other countries

 Supporting the development of (new) topic areas and research skills in maternity care  Engagement and development of female researchers and ESR scientists over the life of

the Action

 Facilitating a growing national interest in the value of consumer’s views and opinions

for assessing and improving the quality of maternity care
