AGENDA
In response to demand from employers for the freedom to hire foreign nationals as interns in their UK operations, BIS and the Home Office authorised exchange” scheme under Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) of the points based immigration system. The scheme provides businesses registered in the UK with the freedom to identify and offer internships to the brightest undergraduates and graduates from all over the world. The Tier 5 Intern scheme is designed to offer a simple process for both employer and candidate.

In order to take part in the Tier 5 Intern scheme: Employers must meet the terms & conditions of membership and be The intern must either hold a degree, or be studying towards a degree equivalent to a UK bachelors degree or higher The intern must be paid the UK National Minimum Wage, or above The role must be supernumerary The role must be supervised and must require a minimum skill level of NVQ Level 3 The internship can last for any period up to a maximum of 12 months
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA

PROCESS OVERVIEW

Step 2 [1-3 working days] Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
Employer provides CoS Request Form and Supporting Documents
- CoS and Visa Letter
Step 3 [depends on where the application is made ] Tier 5 (Temporary Worker: GAE) Visa Application
Intern makes Tier 5 visa application at local Visa Application Centre per Home Office Guidelines Licensed Immigration Advisor may assist with this part of the process
Step 4 [duration of internship] Record Keeping and Reporting Obligations
- Employer continues to meet Tier5 Intern Scheme Record Keeping and Reporting
Obligations for the duration of the internship CCE issued Employer confirms arrival of intern by email to CCE
CERTIFICATE OF SPONSORSHIP (CoS)
Complete Certificate of Sponsorship Request Form template (see Appendix 3) and return to together with: Copy of passport photo page Proof of degree level studies (eg. degree certificate, recent transcript or university reference letter) translated into English, if necessary Copy of the intern’s contract or internship agreement
- prepare Visa Letter for intern that includes CoS details and
Agreement & Release for signature Typically takes 1 – 3 working days to assign CoS and associated paperwork support@cce-uk.com CCE can certify maintenance requirement on behalf of employer CCE
Intern applies for Tier 5 (Temporary Worker: Government Authorised Exchange) Visa entry clearance at their local Visa Application Centre (VAC) according to Home Office guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/tier-5- government-authorised-exchange Processing times vary locally: For visa applications made outside the UK, the Home Office have a global target turnaround time of 15 working days from receipt

For applications eligible to ‘switch’ or extend a Tier 5 visa from within the UK, postal applications are processed within 8 weeks while ‘in-person’ applications are usually decided on the same day. Assistance may be offered by Employer’s own Immigration Advisor
TIER 5 VISA APPLICATION
from the Employer: ON ARRIVAL: Certified copies of the Intern’s passport including the biometric and details page(s) and the visa Completed intern UK Contact Details form Signed copies of the intern’s contract or assignment letter with you (unless previously provided) DURING THE INTERNSHIP: Copies of the intern’s payslips to evidence that their role is salaried Updated copies of the intern’s UK Contact Details form if the intern moves during their internship AT THE END OF THE INTERNSHIP: Confirmation of the intern’s end date and details of their onward travel booking Copies of the intern’s P45 and final payslips
RECORD KEEPING OBLIGATIONS
In terms of key documents required by CCE as the sponsor, we require the following
The Employer is required to report the following to at any time during the internship: If the intern does not arrive to start work at the expected time If there is any significant changes in the intern’s circumstances such as changes in remuneration, job role, or work location (Reference the Certificate of Sponsorship details) If the intern is absent from work without approval or prior agreement for 10 days, or more. If you have any reason to believe that the intern is in breach of the conditions of their Leave (from the Home Office) If you have any reason to believe that the intern is engaged in terrorism or criminal activity If you have any reason to suspect that the intern does not intend to exit the UK on expiry of his Leave in the UK If you have any reason to believe that the intern has not left the UK upon expiry of their visa.

A Registration Fee of £750 + VAT is payable upon registration The Registration Fee is redeemable against the first Certificate of Sponsorship issued Certificates of Sponsorship are charged at £750 each thereafter Visa Application Fees are also payable to the Home Office in local currency at the Visa Application Centres
