Adverbs Adverbs describe verbs. They tell you HOW or WHEN an action was done. Adverbs often end in -ly .... BUT, not always!! The stars shone brightly. Dad was sleeping peacefully. Arfan arrived late.

Adverbs Adverbs and Adjectives Don't get adverbs and adjectives confused. Not all words that end in -ly are adverbs! She was a lovely girl. He was a friendly giant. Lovely & Friendly are adjectives! They are describing the girl & giant.
