A Brief History

In 2007

– Dr. Carlos, director of the program, left UPMC – 60+ patients at the UPMC program

In 2008

– Dr. Gladwin joined UPMC – First physician assistant hired

In 2010

– The Pittsburgh Sickle Cell Society asked us to care for their patients

In 2012

– First adult patient with SCD cured by stem cell transplantation at Childrens Hospital (Dr. Krishnamurti’s team)
