Tarium Niryutait Marine Protected Area (TNMPA) • 3 areas: Niaqunnaq, Okeevik and Kittigaryuit • based on existing Beluga Management Zones • 3 communities: Aklavik, Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk • Management and Monitoring Plans established • First 6-year review of Management and Monitoring plans delayed due to lack of scientific research data.

  3. Anguniaqvia niqiqyuam Marine Protected Area (ANMPA) • Established: November 2016 • Location: Darnley Bay • Community: Paulatuk • May 1, 2017: first meeting to discuss development of monitoring and management plans  an ANMPA working group will likely be established to complete this work

  4. MPA designation process in the ISR Identification of important 1. Site Selection Committee cultural and traditional areas and DFO, IGC, IRC, FJMC selection of best suitable area 2. AOI Steering Committee Review all aspects related to MPA designation DFO , IGC, IRC, FJMC, HTC’s 3. MPA Working Group Ongoing monitoring and HTC’s (with support from management of the MPA MPA secretariat)

  5. ISR MPA Co-Management Chart Chart summarizes the WAMPA proposed structure of MPA DFO – Oceans management within the DFO – Northern Opps. DFO – Science IRC / IGC ISR. MPA Research funding FJMC allocations will be decided TN MPA WG Chair by WAMPA, with the MPA AN MPA WG Chair *ToR being drafted* WG reviewing the research proposals and providing reccomendations to WAMPA.
