SCIENCES PO EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

  • Our 7 campuses of the Undergraduate College host more than 1,200

students each year from Sciences Po’s 470 partner universities around the world, for a semester or an academic year.

  • Two 12 week semesters (September to December and January to May)
  • Undergraduate and graduate exchange students may study uniquely in

French or English, or in both languages simultaneously

SCIENCES PO EXCHANGE PROGRAMME : OUR ACADEMIC OFFER

Undergraduate courses are offered in six disciplines: Economics, History, Law, Political Humanities, Sociology, and Political Science (including International Relations). We have no compulsory major or specific programme for exchange students Types of courses:

  • Lecture: 60 to 500 students in a lecture theatre, 2 or 3 hours per week, general theme with

fundamental concepts Ex : introduction to public international law, comparative politics, gender and sociology, war, peace and the sovereign state

  • Seminar : 20 to 60 students, 2 hours a week, more specialized content

Ex : agriculture, food and globalization; International Humanitarian Law, the Holocaust in History, Belts and Roads : China in Africa;

  • Methodology workshop: 20 to 22 students, 2 hours a week, group reflection

Ex: research methods in technology and society, introduction to econometrics, “mind the map” (cartography)

  • Language course : 2 hours per week)
  • Artistic workshop : 2 hours a week, artistic approach of issues, concepts of the humanities

and social sciences – taught in French

SCIENCES PO EXCHANGE PROGRAMME : COURSE REGISTRATION

Exchange students may register for between 5 ECTS credits (minimum) and 30 ECTS credits (maximum) per semester. Courses registration Course registration is done online in July and January. Each type of course is worth a specific number of ECTS credits:

  • Lecture : 10
  • Seminar: 5
  • Language course: 5
  • Methodology workshop: 5
  • Artistic workshop: 5

We are unable to guarantee registration in any individual course. Certificate programme

  • Reims : International Affairs and Strategy, European Affairs, Business and Economics,

Journalism and Commmunicatin

  • Paris : social science and the humanities

Students are asked to take a full course load of five courses including lecture course. Students must enrol for 30 ECTS per semester and pass at least 20 ECS.

THE SCIENCES PO EXCHANGE PROGRAMME STEP BY STEP

  • 1. Sciences Po requires its partners to nominate online the students they have

selected

  • 2. Nomination takes place in early April and September/October
  • 3. Once nominated by your home university, you receive an email inviting you

to create an account and complete and submit your application form online

  • 4. A confirmation of acceptance is sent to you and your university by email
  • 5. You receive a Sciences Po username and password to activate your email

address and access to your online student account
