What is a Workforce Development Board (WDB)? • Mandated under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA) • A business-led quasi-“Board of Directors” who… • identify the needs of the local job market • leverage & integrate resources • oversee One-Stop Career Centers • promote workforce investments & programs with local, state & federal partners • connect hiring employers with jobseekers 2

Why do we have WDBs?  To enhance the global competitiveness of New Jersey’s businesses by developing a world-class workforce  To oversee the One-Stop Career Centers  To integrate publicly funded workforce services & job training programs into a system that’s flexible, seamless, and responsive to the needs of workers and businesses 3

MISSION “Through policy, oversight, and planning the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board ensures that workforce training and education are responsive to and meet the needs of employers and jobseekers.” VISION  Continuous improvement is embraced throughout the workforce training and education system  Workforce training and education resources meet the present and future talent needs of employers  Customer service and performance outcome expectations are exceeded  There is increased engagement of employers in workforce development planning and policy implementation  There are expanded opportunities and outcomes for employers and job seekers through increased market penetration with a focus on serving the needs of local businesses  There are expanded opportunities and outcomes for targeted populations, like veterans, youth, reentry, English-Language-Learners, individuals with disabilities and 4 others, with a focus on sustainable wage career employment
