History

  • Initially Ian Anderson founded The Designers Republic in
  • rder to design flyers for the brand ‘Person to Person’
  • His first ideas were inspired by Russian constructivism
  • Nick Phillips later joined him, where they both created a

visual identity for ‘Fon Records’ and an album cover for Chakks ’10 Days in the Elevator’

  • An early client who brought them to a wider public’s

attention was ‘Leeds’ band ‘Age of Chance’ (beginning cover for the Prince track ‘Kiss’)

  • Both worked 72 hours shifts
  • Everything was handmade
