Overview

  • Pepco’s purpose is to provide our

customers with safe, reliable, and affordable energy. We also strive to meet the growing demand for electric service.

  • As part of our commitment, we are

upgrading the high-voltage infrastructure to meet the growing demand in the Downtown Silver Spring Area and Takoma Park.

  • This project requires construction that

will affect several main roads in downtown Silver Spring, Washington D.C. and Takoma Park.

Construction Overview

Construction began in September 2017 in Takoma Park and is scheduled to continue until December 2020

  • Duct Bank Construction: September 2017 to Spring 2020
  • Electrical Cable Pulling: Fall 2019 to Spring and Summer 2020

▪ Work Hours:

  • Maryland State Highway: 9:00am – 3:00pm, M-F
  • Montgomery County: 9:30am – 3:30pm, M-F
  • District of Columbia: 9:30am – 3:30pm, M-F
  • City of Takoma Park: 9:00am – 3:30pm, M-F
  • Night work and weekend work on occasion

  • Installation of duct bank and manholes
  • Backfilling
  • Temporary Restoration

Civil Construction

  • Work occurs at manhole locations throughout route pulling and

installation of Cable

  • Splicing of Cable
  • Permanent Restoration

Road Restoration

▪ Pepco will begin road restoration in Fall 2019 ▪ Restoration work in 2019 includes milling and paving in the following areas:

  • Albany Ave.
  • Buffalo Ave.
  • Baltimore Ave.
  • Piney Branch Ave.
  • Cedar Ave.
  • Colesville Rd.
  • Wayne Ave.

▪ Work will begin in October and Continue thru November ▪ We will take into account weather conditions that will affect road restoration.
