  • A letter will be sent home to parents
  • Tuesday the 16th of July in the Theatre at 12pm
  • Invited Guests: Mr Slater, Mr Taylor and Uttoxeter Lions
  • Similar to a Prize Giving – students will receive a graduation

certificate, and will need to sit in a numbered seat.

  • All Year 12 students must attend and registers will be taken.

Criteria for graduation:

  • 1. Attendance to lessonsform time.
  • 2. Mock Examination Results.
  • 3. Subject Teacher recommendation.
  • 4. Form Tutor recommendation.

  • A personal statement is the first opportunity candidates get to

tell universities and colleges about their suitability for the course(s) that they wish to study.

  • 47 lines or 4,000 characters – whichever comes first
  • Most universities do not interview so this might be a candidates
  • nly chance to stand out from the other 1,307 applicants.
  • When the admissions and subject tutors look at a personal

statement, they are likely to be asking two key questions:

1. Do we want this candidate on our course? 2. Do we want this candidate at our university?

  • Take your time – it will be time well spent.
  • Make it clear how passionate/dedicated you are

about your chosen subject(s).

  • Do some research about yourself – i.e. what have

  • Get it checked – it could take many drafts to

get it ‘right’ first draft is due on the 16th of July

sent off to universities.

  • 15th October 2019 - application deadline for UCAS of

applications for all Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Science courses and for all courses at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

  • 13th December 2019 - Thomas Alleyne’s deadline for

submission of UCAS of applications for all courses except those listed for the October 15th deadline.

  • 15th January 2020 - application deadline for UCAS of

applications for all courses except those listed for Oct 15th.

  • March 2020 – UCAS Extra begins for eligible candidates

GOOD NEWS FOR STUDENTS?

The 2019 Student Support Regulations introduce a revised living costs support package for new and continuing undergraduate students in respect of an academic year beginning on or after 1 August 2019. They increase the maximum loan for living costs and long courses loan for new and continuing full-time students attending their courses in 2019/20 by 2.8% (forecast inflation). They also increase maximum maintenance grants and special support grants in 2019/20 for full-time students who started attending their courses before 1 August 2016 by 2.8%.
