SITUATION

SAR ‐ OVERVIEW

  • 1. An earthquake of magnitude 8.9 was detected from off the

west coast of Northern Sumatra (May 5, 2013)

SAR ‐ OVERVIEW

  • 2. Because of that earthquake, buildings in cha‐am city collapse,

hazardous material leaks out from tank lorry, rock slid and the ships at the port become adrift.

  • 3. Royal Thai Government declares national emergency and

decides to accepts international humanitarian assistance through existing national, regional and international humanitarian assistance mechanisms

Exercise control will oversee the entire FTX exercise AHA/OSOCC will be set up for the exercise in cooperation with UNOCHA/ASEAN Secretariat. The participants will be divided into several groups Each group will consists of heavy team and non‐heavy team Each group will select group leader and he/she will represent the group The leader will lead the group from the beginning to the end of Exercise

SAR – EXERCISE METHODOLOGY

Participants will be requested to attend the AHA/OSOCC meetings. Each participants will be assigned missions at the Meeting. Grouped participants will be assigned 4 different missions,

  • ne after another.

AAR team members will be joined on the transportation AAR team members will possibly ask questions to the SAR members. After mission, the group leader should prepare mission completion report for the upcoming AHA/OSOCC meeting
