A BRIEF H ISTORY OF THE N ORTHVILLE A RT H OUSE & THE N ORTHVILLE A RTS C OMMISSION # of people who have participated in activities: Programs started: 1982 – Summer concert series started by NAC. 1985-2009 – Art Lecture series created 1987-2008 – Art Market, annual juried art show held in September. 2000 – Student Art Show, a collaborative effort with Northville Public Schools, started. 2004 – Camera Club formed at Art House. 2005-2008 – Baseline Music Society formed at Art House. 2006 – Helped start Northville’s First Friday art walks. 2009 – Management of June outdoor art fair, Art in the Sun 2010 – Created Arts & Acts to include other art components during Art in the Sun. 2014 – Formed a Friends of the Northville Art House non-profit group.

  4. T HE N ORTHVILLE A RT H OUSE C ELEBRATES 10 Y EARS ! The Northville Art House officially opened its doors in March of 2005. Donate $10 for our past 10 years and $10 for the future of this Northville gem. Your birthday gift will allow us to purchase much needed supplies for our classroom, continue to produce fantastic exhibits, allow us to increase our community outreach, and contribute to a reserve for future building improvements. Your donation of $20 will help the Art House to keep an eye on the future and continue to bring the arts to Northville! T HE F RIENDS OF THE N ORTHVILLE A RT H OUSE , I NC The Friends of the Northville Art House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Northville Art House and the arts in our community through fundraising and volunteer efforts. The Friends of the Northville Art House, Inc. was organized exclusively for civic, educational and charitable purposes related to the support, promotion, appreciation, and development of the Northville Art House activities. These purposes are: o To maintain an association of persons interested in the Northville Art House. To provide material, equipment, and financial resources to o supplement the Northville Art House services. To facilitate a variety of art and cultural activities within the o City of Northville and southeastern Michigan.

T HE F RIENDS OF THE N ORTHVILLE A RT H OUSE & THE N ORTHVILLE A RTS C OMMISSION The Northville Arts The Friends of the Commissioners Northville Art House, Inc.  Oversee the staff.  Manage membership  Manage the building.  Procure sponsorship and donations.  Plan and manage exhibits.  Plan 2-3 fundraisers a year.  Oversee classes, programming and instructors.  Manage giving campaigns.  Manage Arts and Acts.  Sponsor aspects of Arts and Acts (i.e. the Chalk Festival)  Manage the Art House Store.

  7. Why was the Friends of the Northville Art House Formed? The Northville Art House is a non-profit organization that operates as a governmental department of the City of Northville, Michigan. The support from the city, however, is not enough to keep the Art House doors open. The Northville Art House depends its membership and donations to sustain and grow. The formation of the 501(c)(3) Friends of the Northville Art House allows us to apply for grants to fund programming and equipment, and will allow us to grow our membership and sponsorship programs. What will happen to my membership to the Northville Art House? Your current membership is still active, however, upon renewal, you will become a Friend of the Northville Art House. All of the benefits will remain the same. Who is on the Board of the Friends of the Northville Art House? Currently, Ellen Bennett is serving as President and Liz Carter is the volunteer Treasurer. We are looking for board members. How can I get involved? Join the board of the Friends of the Northville Art House, or volunteer on one of the many committees. P ROGRAMMING AND S TORE N EWS Visit the Art House Store to find unique and affordable quality art and contemporary fine crafts by local area artists ranging from jewelry to decorative art for the home. Sign up now for our classes and workshops for children, teens and adults. Professional art instructors offer art instruction for drawing, mixed media, acrylics, watercolor, pastel and calligraphy. New classes are always beginning. Check our website for current class offerings. Upcoming workshops include Teen Night, hammered copper jewelry and making earrings, bracelets and pendants. Learn Impressionistic Landscapes with Vianna Szabo in a two day workshop on April 25 & 26. Have your child’s next birthday party at the Northville Art House! Parties include two-hour Art House rental, one hour of directed art activities led by our professional art instructors.

April 3-25 Pastel Invitational Exhibition Showcasing the work of seven accomplished pastel artists. May 1-22 16 th Annual Northville Schools Student Art Show Annual showcase of talented young artists. May 28 & 29 Lotus by Kate Paul National PTA Reflections Exhibit Showcasing award winners from annual national student art contest June 5-27 7 th Annual West of Center Juried Exhibit An all-media, contemporary art show juried by artist Topher Crowder

U PCOMING E VENTS Mark your calendars… we will host a 10 Year Birthday Celebration on May 16 th featuring our Art from the Attic sale, live entertainment, and an afternoon of fun at the Art House. Arts and Acts will be returning June 19 th – 20 th for its 6th year along with the 27th year of Art in the Sun. o Art in the Sun Fine Arts Festival, o Short on Words – A Literary Event o Reel Michigan – A Michigan Film Festival o Tipping Point Theater’s Sandbox Play Festival, o The Northville Art House Chalk Festival o Live Music, and Children’s Activities. We will host a Fall Art Auction this September…More details to come!
