  • Created MS Excel spreadsheet of student-athletes and sports participated in
  • Collected raw GPA data by marking period from the CSIU with the assistance
  • f the District Assessment Coordinator and High School Secretaries
  • Transferred collected GPA data to a separate spreadsheet

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

  • GPAs of student-athletes are overall 3.10% points higher than

non-athletes

  • Grades do not significantly fluctuate in-season and out-of-

season

  • Student-athletes who struggle academically show the largest

increase in GPA while in-season

  • The more sports participated in the higher the average GPA is
  • Significantly lower failure rate for student-athletes than non-

athletes
