STRATEGIC PLAN FOR EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT STRATEGIC PLAN REGARDING STRATEGIC PLAN REGARDING EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT

Pokagon Band Department of Education

“I “Ind ndian Ed ian Educ ucation” ation” has always always been a progressive study of cultural preservation intertwined with political climate. For centuries Tribal Nations have been denied input on education, submitting to the discretion of the dominant culture. With stronger tribal governments and increased economic resources, tribes are actively seeking new ways of investing in the education of their citizens. The Pokagon Band Department of Education Strategic Plan Regarding Educational Enhancements will examine what is needed to ensure highly effective education for all Pokagon Band Citizens. ”

What do all nations want? They want citizens that are knowledgeable of the history of the nation, and informed about the realities that still face their communities. They want educated citizens who have successful careers in cutting edge jobs, producing long term economic growth and stability. These engaged citizens become less dependent on government services, allowing funding capabilities for other programs or needs. In return, their citizens want a government that will protect their Culture, Rights, Wealth and Sovereignty. Tribal nations are no different.
