  10. Operations � DNS servers: Procurement for hardware underway � Deploying lower-port density devices throughout network to lower operational costs (e.g. AMAN & BMAN) � Shutdown several dial-up lines at the ADC 10

Operations � Consulting Services Engagements – Assisting DPSCS in turning up networkMaryland on-net connections – Assisting MEMA to support network requirements for their WebEOC Application � WebEOC Statewide Exercise held June 13, 2007 � Internet bandwidth to both providers exceeded provisioned capacity � Additional hardware purchased to support bandwidth upgrade � Towson University will host EMA application on a trial basis 11

  12. Customer Provisioning � 56 circuits are currently in the customer’s testing/implementation phase � 8 new circuits have been provisioned since the last meeting � 11 circuits have been accepted by the customer since the last meeting 12

New Customers � Baltimore County Government – Towson POP (in progress) � Judiciary/JIS – Identified LaPlata as DR site � WCC: Transitioning from leased line to direct fiber connection (Waiting for parts) � NCR (National Capitol Region) Interoperability Network: Discussions on connecting DC, VA & MD entities together using SwGI � Caroline County – ISP & SwGI � Howard County – ISP (via MOU) 13

Project Status � DWDM Ring (Partnership with USM, MDOT) – Provisioning an additional wavelength – Parts expected in August � Elkton SONET POP – Partnership with Sailor located at Elkton Library – Shelter is completed – Fiber connected to the backbone – Requires backbone splice for completion – Equipment is ready for deployment 16

Project Status � Towson POP – Baltimore County is building a fiber route to County Data Center – Fiber installation expected by end of July – PMP in development – No ATM will be deployed at this POP � Salisbury MSC – Initially connect to network via leased line – Site has been surveyed – PMP under development – No ATM will be deployed at this POP 17

Project Status � Denton MAN – Connection to County Data Center Established – Engineering design and overall layout completed – PMP and parts lists approved – Install equipment in 4 buildings in Cambridge – Serve 17 agency connections – Procurement submitted. Waiting for arrival of parts. – Connects subscribers to the Eastern Shore microwave backbone 18

  19. Project Status � Cambridge MAN – Resource Share with Bay Country Communications – Install equipment in 4 buildings in Cambridge – PMP completed and approved – Procurement in progress – Serve 17 agency connections 19

Project Status � UMBC POP – Service State Archives connectivity between Annapolis and their backup datacenter located at UMBC – Termination point for microwave connection to Hagerstown – Engineering of fiber route completed – Site surveyed and prep work completed – Will be connected redundantly to core via the DWDM network 20

Projects in Planning � Western Maryland Microwave – Partnership with UMATS and Sailor – High Speed microwave from UMBC to Hagerstown – Provide redundant path out of Hagerstown – Allows the decommissioning of 3 Inter-LATA circuits � Washington County Connectivity – MOU with WCPN – networkMaryland will establish POP in Hagerstown – WCPN will receive SWGI and Tower access – networkMaryland will receive last mile access to subscribers 22

  23. Projects in Planning � Fiber Projects – Resource sharing agreement with Fibergate: Additional fiber in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and to Fort Detrick. Terms agreed upon and LPC letter drafted. – Frederick MAN: Add an additional POP in Frederick and build a diverse fiber path to the city. Partnership with Frederick County Government. Relies on Fibergate fiber. – Oakland MSC: Resource Share agreement to bring fiber from Oakland to backbone. 23

  24. Other Initiatives � Working with MDBC on statewide fiber agreement � Working with agencies to update WAN architecture – MSP – DPSCS – MDOT – JUD/JIS � Evaluating various Last-Mile Access Solutions – Ethernet over TDM – Clear channel (non-ATM) access � Migration from ATM on the backbone 24
