How can the solar energy industry be successful in Somalia?

• Somalia is the perfect country for solar power plants. The annual yield

would reach 2GWh / MWp

• It's absolutely necessary to choose high-quality technologies
• The project preparation :
• the geological survey of the soil
• monitoring and topology of existing grid
• source topology (the proposed number of panels and their orientation,

selection of cables with a UV resistance, …)

• Almost every government should support Renewable Energy Resources
• The legislation should guarantee:

• At my last meeting with the minister of power industry of Somaliland he

said that he will try to do as much as he can to support this sector

• Install technologies only from suppliers who have a service center in Somalia and

trained personnel

• Prefer technologies with the possibility of remote diagnostics and software

upgrades over the Internet
