  1. Spanish 4 Honors Oral Presentation Rubric You are going to be assigned a specific Spanish artist, and the presentation date. This is your opportunity to shine, you will be teaching the class. The requirements are as follows: 1. Include a time line of the important events in the artist’s life. 2. Show y our knowledge of the artist by explaining how the artist’s experiences in life influenced his/her style. 3. Important historical context that affected the artist’s life. 4. Present the material through a PowerPoint presentation. 5. Present the artist by becoming the artist. Wear a costume that would identify or wear an outfit that represents one of the artists’ work or art. 6. The oral presentation has to be between ten to fifteen minutes. 7. Share six paintings with the class. 8. Analyze, compare and contrast in detail three of the six paintings. 9. If more than one person in each class has the same artist, each person must have different sets of paintings. Let me know ASAP which paintings you chose . 10. At least two days before the presentation date , e-mail the teacher your PowerPoint (one point deducted per late delivery date) , and the final “A udience Comprehension & Participation Sheet “( you are responsible for making your own class copies). 11. The “ A udience Comprehension & Participation Sheet “should list five questions on the essential ideas presented to the class. 12. After the presentation, collect and correct the “A udience Comprehension & Participation Sheet “for each student in the class. 13. The day after your presentation hand in to the teacher the class results. Submit an account of how many students understood each of the essential questions. Communicative success Points Student has excellent pronunciation and speaks at the appropriate pace and 2.0 with appropriate expression to be well-understood by the audience. Student makes a few pronunciation errors or speaks too fast/slow or does not 1.5 use appropriate inflexion/emphasis (speaks in monotone, etc) for at least ½ of the presentation. Student makes several pronunciation errors, speaks too fast, or does not use 1.0 appropriate inflexion/emphasis for more than ½ of the presentation. Student makes numerous pronunciation errors (more than 10) or speaks at an .50 inappropriate pace or does not use appropriate inflexion/emphasis for the entire presentation Pronunciation, pace, and inflexion/emphasis problems make the presentation 0 almost incomprehensible, even for a sympathetic listener. II. Presentational Style Points Student uses excellent style of becoming the artist. The costume or artists’ 2.0 painting fully represents the artist, and it is easily recognized by others. Student uses good style of becoming the artist. The costume or artists’ 1.5 painting mostly represents the artist. Student uses fair style of becoming the artist. The costume or artists’ painting 1.0 somewhat represents the artist Student does not use a costume that represents the artist or does not wear a costume. 0 III. Sociolinguistic competence: Vocabulary choices/uses Points Student uses appropriate vocabulary for his or her audience and uses 2.0 appropriate level of formality/informality for the presentation. Student uses 4-5 vocabulary words (not included in the lexicon) that are not 1.0 appropriate for his or her level of Spanish. Student uses more than 5 vocabulary words (not included in the lexicon) that .5 are not appropriate for his or her level of Spanish. Vocabulary problems, whether due to inappropriateness for the level or misuse, make the presentation almost incomprehensible for the audience. 0 IV. Grammatical competence Points No grammar problems. Extensive use of studied grammar points. 2.0 1-2 grammar problems. 1.5 3-5 grammar problems. Some use of studied grammar points. 1.0 6-8 grammar problems. No/yes presentation proposal discussed with the teacher and includes none 0 of the required elements as specified by the teacher. VI. Presentation Style and Delivery Points Student has prepared well enough so that he/she does not read notes or a 2.0 document. Maintains excellent eye contact. Student is well-prepared. Does not read but may glance at notes. Very good 1.5 eye contact. Student only reads 1-3 short quotations or lines from notes. Good eye contact. 1.0 Student reads 5 quotations or lines from notes. Maintains only moderate eye .50 contact. Student reads most or all of the lines form notes. Poor eye contact with 0 audience. VII. Audience Participation and comprehension Points Created an audience comprehension questionnaire relating to the 2.0 presentation. Included at least four questions of the major points presented. Corrected the audience comprehension questionnaire and gave it to the 1.75 teacher the next day. Created an audience comprehension questionnaire relating to the 1.0 presentation.
