History ¡of ¡ Southern ¡Nevada ¡Transit ¡Coali3on ¡

• The ¡ ¡Southern ¡Nevada ¡Transit ¡Coali3on ¡(SNTC) ¡organiza3on ¡was ¡formed ¡in ¡

July ¡of ¡2002. ¡It ¡was ¡originally ¡formed ¡to ¡bring ¡public ¡transporta3on ¡to ¡the ¡ community ¡of ¡Pahrump, ¡NV. ¡ALer ¡the ¡September ¡11th ¡terrorist ¡aNack ¡and ¡ the ¡resul3ng ¡downturn ¡in ¡the ¡economy ¡in ¡southern ¡Nevada, ¡the ¡SNTC's ¡ ini3al ¡focus ¡was ¡altered ¡by ¡the ¡RTC ¡of ¡Southern ¡Nevada ¡so ¡the ¡SNTC ¡could ¡ commence ¡transporta3on ¡in ¡the ¡rural ¡communi3es ¡of ¡Laughlin ¡and ¡

• Mesquite. ¡Previously, ¡the ¡service ¡was ¡provided ¡in ¡Laughlin ¡and ¡Mesquite ¡

by ¡a ¡for-­‑profit ¡company ¡that ¡the ¡RTC ¡of ¡Southern ¡Nevada ¡contracted ¡with. ¡ Due ¡to ¡the ¡downturn ¡in ¡the ¡economy, ¡the ¡RTC ¡needed ¡to ¡find ¡an ¡ alterna3ve ¡to ¡maintain ¡the ¡transporta3on ¡provided ¡to ¡the ¡rural ¡ communi3es ¡but ¡at ¡a ¡much ¡lower ¡cost. ¡The ¡SNTC ¡commenced ¡ transporta3on ¡in ¡Mesquite ¡(September ¡2002), ¡Indian ¡Springs ¡(October ¡ 2002), ¡Boulder ¡City ¡(November ¡2002), ¡Laughlin ¡(December ¡2002) ¡with ¡ transporta3on ¡for ¡Searchlight, ¡Cal-­‑Nev-­‑Ari, ¡and ¡Palm ¡Gardens ¡ commencing ¡in ¡2005. ¡Transporta3on ¡to ¡the ¡four ¡communi3es ¡that ¡ comprise ¡the ¡Moapa ¡Valley ¡commenced ¡in ¡2006. ¡This ¡year, ¡2014, ¡we ¡were ¡ able ¡to ¡begin ¡service ¡in ¡Sandy ¡Valley/Goodsprings, ¡NV ¡area. ¡ ¡
