Why is a catchment change proposed? • To reduce accommodation pressure at Currie Primary School • Nether Currie has capacity to support additional demand • Proposals mean new accommodation is only required at Dean Park PS • Opportunity to align school boundaries with Community Council boundaries • Balerno HS catchment area geographically linked 5

Summary of Proposals • Section of Currie PS realigned to Nether Currie PS – no change to secondary school catchment areas • Section of Currie PS realigned to Dean Park PS – realignment of secondary school catchment areas required • Would affect P1 and S1 registrations from August 2020 and new registrations • No mandatory transfer of pupils attending another school 6
