  18. PSAT-10  Who: 10th graders  Where: At SCHS  When: February 27  Sign up due date: December 1 in the Counseling office  Fees: $16

  19. PSAT-10 What Is the PSAT 10?  The PSAT 10 is a practice SAT exam that debuted in the 2015-16 school year. It is aligned to the SAT, meaning it has similar question types and the same Reading, Writing, and Math sections. Its scores are based on a total scale of 320-1520.  Unlike the SAT, which is designed for juniors and seniors, the PSAT 10 is designed specifically for sophomores in high school. As a result, its questions are not as difficult as those on the SAT.  It's essential to know that the PSAT 10 is the same test as the PSAT/NMSQT, which is designed for both sophomores and juniors. In other words, all questions, sections, and time limits are the same for these two tests.

PSAT/NMSQ  Sign up for the PSAT/NMSQ in the fall of your junior year  Critical Reading, Math, Writing  The PSAT NMSQT can qualify you for the National Merit competition but only if you take it as a junior and get a high enough score on it. High enough scores on the PSAT/NMSQT can lead to large merit based scholarships.

ACT  ACT stands for America College Testing  The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in:  English  Mathematics  Reading  Science  Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes  Register online, use code 172685 for SCHS  Use a debit/credit card for the $50.50 fee, or visit with your counselor for a fee waiver if you qualify.

Sophomore Checklist FALL  PLAN FOR THE YEAR AHEAD  Stay informed and on top of your grades on the Skyward.  Review your schedule to make sure you are enrolled in challenging and rigorous classes. Colleges prefer at least two years of a foreign language and four years of core classes (English/math/science/social studies).  Start a calendar of important dates and deadlines  Get more involved in extracurricular activities and begin to make a résumé of your activities for your college application.  Go to college fairs & attend recruiter visits on your campus. Prepare for your semester exams
