SNM Group, previously SATYA NARAYAN MAHESHWARI, a whole sale trading firm at Kolkata and a market leader in cattle-feed, oil-seeds, food-grains, oils and pulses, diversified its field in 1995 by setting up a Rice Industry at Balasore (Orissa). To day, SNM Group possesses 2 large food processing complexes at Balasore, within a radius of 4 km comprising a wide range of processing and production capabilities, ready to meet demand of its customers and consumers.

The Group has a turnover of more than 35 crores producing varieties of products viz. Hi-tech par- boiled rice, raw-rice, muri rice, edible double filtered expeller oils, non-edible solvent extraction

• ils, white coal (agro-waste bio-mass pressed briquettes) and pure hygienic products - rice grit,

rice flour and idly rawa, as well as by-products like broken rice, rice bran, husk, oil-cakes, de-oiled cakes and de-oiled rice bran. In addition to its present food processing chain, the group is expanding to double its existing capacity of solvent extraction plant and white coal before setting up a 50 TPD new physical refinery with Vanaspati plant. Further, the Group has already installed a 6TPH boiler, a 750 KVA transformer and acquired large patches of land keeping in mind the above expansion plans.

Shree Satyanarayan Somani, the main founder of the SNM group, has over 58 years of experience in whole-sale trade and industry of food grains, pulses, oils, oil-seeds, and cattle feed.

his father’s business in 1982 and diversified to rice industry in 1995. Today, he has specialized in project designing, production and quality control.

Due to heavy pressure of raw-material arrivals and shortage of skilled labours, the group has on-line checking, testing and sorting arrangement for direct raw-materials processing from Lorry unloading to processing through various machines since we have double sets of machines and silos that solves the problem of labour and space and time. We have latest storing facilities of about 3000 MT of loose and different varieties of materials holding capacity in more than 30 Silos of various capacity, Storage Bins and Process Hoppers. Thus we are capable of continuous processing through automatic machines round the clock and thereby reduce cost of production to minimum.

We benchmark our energy consumption level regularly through global standards and consistently work towards improving efficiency. Near about 50% of the total project cost is invested in this Account head from base foundation to finished level to main- tain proper Hygiene at each and every stage of construction.
