SMEs in Horizon 2020
General info (1)
Horizon 2020 stimulates SME participation across the whole programme, but with a particular focus on close-to-market support. Development results need to be translated into innovation: great ideas need to be picked up by users, customers and the market and this is where SMEs play a vital role. Over 8 billion € out of the Horizon 2020 budget is expected to find its way directly to SMEs!
NCP Flanders
SMEs in Horizon 2020
Societal challenges & Leadership in Enabling and Industrial technologies
SMEs can participate in any of the H2020 projects, but typically in those
Technologies programmes, providing specialized
technology/knowledge and/or bringing the project results closer to the market.

SMEs in Horizon 2020
Future & Emerging Technologies (FET) Open
FET Open supports early stage science and technology research
exploring new foundations for radically new future technologies by challenging current paradigms and venturing into unknown areas. SMEs taking part in FTI or FET-Open are offered up to 12 coaching-days. Coaches will help the beneficiaries to progress over the life cycle of their innovation, from idea to proof of concept, to first pilot application and finally upscaling and expansion.
NCP Flanders
SMEs in Horizon 2020
Fast track to Innovation (FTI)
Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) provides funding for bottom-up
proposals for close-to-market innovation activities in any area of technology or application. FTI’s aim: reduce time from idea to market, stimulate the participation of first- time applicants to EU research and innovation funding, and increase private sector investment in research and innovation. SMEs taking part in FTI or FET-Open are offered up to 12 coaching-days. Coaches will help the beneficiaries to progress over the life cycle of their innovation, from idea to proof of concept, to first pilot application and finally upscaling and expansion.
