- 1. General:
- a. Dan Z. introduced the design team and provided an overview of the process
that the site committee has been a part of.
- b. The Principal explained the decisions of the site committee.
- 2. Program / Master Plan Discussion:
- a. Site Layout:
1) DLM reviewed location of the new building and the canopies connecting to the existing buildings.
- i. DLM questioned if a canopy connector between Buildings D and E
would be of value. A teacher in Building E in a classroom furthest from the MPR said that she would not use a canopy to get to the administration building during heavy rain as typical breaks are only 15 minutes. The teacher would still run between buildings during rain to save time. DLM noted that a canopy connector would cost approximately $75,000. 2) It was asked if the playground displaced by the MPR would be replaced
- elsewhere. DLM stated that additional asphalt would be added adjacent
to the shade structures.
- i. A teacher asked about the supervision for the proposed longer
- playground. The Principal said that there would still be two teachers on
yard duty as currently and that supervision would be easier since one person can stand in the center of the playground near the shade structures.
- b. Building:
1) DLM presented a 3-D model of the proposed building. 2) DLM stated that the size and layout is similar to Coleman ES but without the two additional classrooms. Additional classrooms could be located in the existing MPR in the future or added behind the stage in the proposed MPR in the future. A warming kitchen could also be built adjacent to the proposed MPR in the future.
